Members of the Association of Wessex Tourist Guides are all qualified Blue Badge guides operating across the south of England counties of Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. Our member guides are proud of their Blue Badge qualification which is awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guiding only after an extensive programme of training followed by written and practical examinations. Blue Badge guides are covered by Public Liability Insurance and operate to the highest professional standards.
The Blue Badge guides in Wessex first joined together in an Association nearly 50 years ago when the Government wanted to encourage visitors to discover more of the countryside outside London. We still enjoy showing visitors around our beautiful region today. Some suggestions of places to visit are on the Places of Interest page. The Association is affiliated to the British Guild of Tourist Guides.
Blue Badge guides have a great variety of interests and talents and may specialise in a particular part of the region. Some offer walking, cycling or minibus/coach tours. Some can drive you in their own car. Others speak foreign languages or give illustrated talks. They can suggest popular tours or tailor a tour to you. A Blue Badge tourist guide will help you to make the most of your visit to the south of England.
On the Find a Guide page are individual profiles so that you can find a guide who meets your needs and interests.
Blue Badge guides are all self-employed. Please contact the guide direct if you want further information or would like to arrange a tour.
Each guide sets their own fees which will vary according to the nature of the job, but the current recommendations of the British Guild of Tourist Guides for 2020/21 can be found here
